Jardan

The Jardan Bar and Restaurant has a few locations, but the one we went to is located on Paulista avenue. What interested us about this restaurant was it had a vibrant crowd outside and inside, primarily because there was a Sao Paulo soccer game going on. We walked in for 2 at 8:00 PM, and we were seated immediately. The seating area is pretty wide open with a lot of tables, where most of the views face the large TV in the corner.
Ambiance & Service
The ambiance is similar to a lively sports bar atmosphere. The restaurant menu is similar to botecas, which are basically Brazilian bar foods.
Service is fast like most Brazilian casual restaurants.
Food

We ordered the Suco Maracuja (R$13) and the Suco Acai (R$17). Both were freshly blended. The acai was a bit sweeter than my maracuju (passion fruit).

The Paulista Burger (R$62) came with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and iceberg lettuce. It included fries and house sauce on the side. The burger, although very basic looking, tasted decent. The meat was cooked medium well, so there wasn’t much juice coming out of it. The burger style here reminded me of some diner burgers. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t great. Regardless, the meat tasted more natural without any additives since Brazilian beef is far less processed than USA beef. The fries were nice and crispy with plenty of starch in the center. The house sauce tasted like a mayonnaise / aioli dressing. The flavors were mild, and for my taste buds, I preferred simply ketchup over this.
Overall Impression
We had eaten bar food in other places that we didn’t blog about. This restaurant is really just your average diner-type of food. If you’re looking for a casual dine without really thinking about what you want, then this place would satisfy those requirements.
Yelp & Google Jabs
Oh man. What a meal. It was really good. I had the grilled chicken and it was on point.
The reviews say a lot. This person’s photo showed just a basic grilled chicken with rice. So the palette here is not going to be looking for anything sophisticated.
Worst burgers we ever had. Meat tasted bad and was way too salty, cheese was bad.. we took both 3 bites and left it there.
I’m surprised by the claim of saltiness as Brazilian food in general is literally salty. The burger I had was definitely salted, but not uncomfortably so even for my palette where I am sensitive to salt. The cheese is basically American-type cheese.
