Iron Bar

The Iron Bar and Lounge is located in the middle of the Theater District along 8th Avenue and 45th Street. We walked into this restaurant because my partner was craving for a burger, and it was between this and Junior’s. Because the World Cup festivities have just begun, there were a lot of people inside just coming early to watch sports on TVs. We were able to walk with 2 people around 4:30 PM without any reservations.
Ambiance & Service
This is a quintessential sports bar with a lot of noise and a lot of grime. Due to the humidity outside, the restaurant did not ventilate well, so despite the air conditioner and fans blowing, it felt muddy and sticky. Our server was in a rush and was also lamenting about how hot it was inside. Regardless, the ambiance is a festive and loud place to be.
The service was very fast since it’s just burgers and flash fry food. We saw other tables order salads, and those looked pretty decent.
Food

The Californian Burger ($21) came with 9 oz Angus beef, guacamole, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and French fries. The meat on this was pretty decent. I ordered it medium, and it was probably closer to medium well. The ingredients overall were pretty fresh. The guacamole had a lot of lemon citrus in it, which I really enjoy since it cuts thru fat well. Overall, it wasn’t the best burger in the world, but it was decent for the price. The French fries were very crispy and doughy, and not something that was super memorable.

The Iron Burger ($20) came with 9 oz Angus beef, crispy prosciutto, gorgonzola, mushrooms, and stewed red onions served with French fries. My partner had this and did not like the gorgonzola. That came on the burger more like a spread than crumbles. The mushrooms were good for them, but overall, they felt the burger could’ve been better.
Overall Impression
This is basically a bar where it focuses on the atmosphere first, followed by the food. Most people come here to drink than to eat. If that’s what you care for, then check this place out. Otherwise, there are probably better food places elsewhere around this area.
Yelp & Google Jabs
Service was terrible but food was alright and the actual space was a VIBE to watch a Knicks playoff game
You’d wonder why an Elitist would find a rowdy night to have great service. In most budget sports-centric restaurants, service will have an inverse effect as the crowd size gets better.
They have hookah starting at 7:30 PM. The music was fun. They ID you at the door so I don’t think this is a spot for kids.
This restaurant is a loud, grimy sports bar even from the outside. There is alcohol everywhere inside. The only reason a Yelper or an Elitist might have thought this could be for kids is because they forgot they have kids.
