Shortly after Tenjou, we decided to look for desserts around the area. I stumbled onto this restaurant, and it reminded me a bit of [Lysee]({< relref “lysee” >}), where the desserts seem very interesting to look at. The restaurant is similar to many of the newer dessert places around the city, where you can look into the counter and pick the items that you want. From their website, they aim to make hyper-realistic fruit desserts with artisanal quality and unique flavor combinations.
Ambiance & Service
When we walked in, there was a very small line, and most of the displays were empty. We assumed it was because the “best” items sold out. There were other items there that were plentiful stocked though.
Food

The Pistachio ($12.95 - left) was made with pistachio mousse, filled with a crisp white chocolate and pistachio praline crunch on smooth vanilla custard, finished on a moist almond sponge base. The pistachio tasted very nutty, and it had a custard in the middle. For the price, I would say it wasn’t worth it, but it did taste very pistachio.
The Yuzu ($10.95 - right) was a Japanese yuzu mousse with strawberry mousse and guava coulis filling, set on an almond sponge with a crispy chocolate rice base. The yuzu was understated, and the rice base was not a great match. It was difficult to split it in half. The overall flavor to me was more berry like than yuzu unfortunately.
Overall Impression
Desserts dressed to look hyper-realistic are always fun to try because your gut is expecting what your eyes are seeing. However, I felt this was simply a gimmick and not really worth a recurring premium. By all means, try it once if you’re interested, but it’s difficult for me to recommend it given its flavors.
Yelp & Google Jabs
Really yummy and texturally interesting fruit pastries!! I love the crunch and the range of flavors they combine into a single pastry!!!
These Elitist reviews seem like it was written by a bot.
Yuzu looks pretty with the pink and yellow glaze, but it didn’t go with the realistic fruit theme. I chose it for the flavor combination which is strawberry, yuzu, and guava. This was slightly better in terms of flavor variety in the mouth. The flower on top had a weird off putting flavor. The bottom crispy rice apparently is supposed to be chocolate but it came out plain. It was tasteless anyway, so not effective in terms of flavor or texture.
The bottom crispy rice I believe was supposed to be a white chocolate glaze. If it were white chocolate, it was definitely not super sweet.
I tried the yuzu dessert and it tasted nice, little sweet and very tart.
I felt the tartness was very lacking in the yuzu. It definitely was on the sweeter side, but not excessively so. As a lover of yuzu, I would recommend to avoid this dessert as it doesn’t really preach those yuzu flavors successfully.
