In this side of Brooklyn, we were visiting Industry City which is in an area around the vicinity of Sunset Park. This area was a converted set of warehouses into a mall of sorts that has eateries, furniture stores, and “Japan Village”. Japan Village is basically a small Japanese market and a set of Japanese eateries. As we were leaving, we decided to try one of these restaurants to get a sense of how it tasted compared to areas in Manhattan. My partner was craving for Gyuya, which was a Japanese BBQ place.

Ambiance & Service

The ambiance was pretty dead at around 4 PM in the afternoon. There were hardly anyone there. We were seated in the middle section, and there was a grill right in front of us. In each station, they have an emergency extinguisher in case if things get out of hand. The interior was probably similar to Japanese booths.

The service generally was OK. They are quick to deliver the raw foods, but took some time to deliver the final check.

Food

The Virgin Pina Colada ($9) tasted good. My first thought was that it had just Dole pineapple juice with foam.

The Assorted Namul ($12) came with a medley of vegetables, including carrots & radish, bean sprouts, bok choy, and mushrooms. I did not know what the second from the left was, but it had a bit of earthy flavor to it. There was really nothing special about this, but my partner enjoyed the crunch.

The Negi Tama Addicted Rice ($6) was a bowl of rice with spring onions, raw egg, and some sort of sweet sauce that reminded me of sukiyaki. The combination of all this was well harmonious, but this is a very typical recipe of ingredients.

The B Gyuya Set ($65) came with:

US Wagyu Chuck Short Rib
Prime Outside Skirt
Prime Chuck Tail Flap
Variety Cuts / Marinated Finger Meat

Honestly, all the meats were very tasty and good. The quality was superb, and we were decently full at the end.

Overall Impression

The food here generally was OK, and it was probably on the gimmicky side. If you’re in the Industry City area, the food is decent enough if you’re craving for Japanese BBQ. Otherwise, I wouldn’t make an intentional trip here.

I think the kitchen is not used to flow yet.

When we were there, the kitchen seemed fine. They mostly were just throwing on raw things onto a plate and delivering it out.

Honestly one of the best places I’ve been recently for food. And the 5 is for the food, not the service, which was so inattentive we ended up missing the kitchen closing and couldn’t order additional food.

This Yelper probably needs to try more restaurants.
