Izakaya Seasun

Around the corner from the reputable 260 Sample Sale sight was this Izakaya Seasun place that had been on my list for a while. What attracted me to this was how it had Korean style izakaya and hot pot. Price-wise, it seemed like it wasn’t too expensive and could be a decent place to try tonight. We were able to walk in on a Wednesday evening without any issues of waiting.

Ambiance & Service

We were seated in a 2-seater right behind the host check-in area. The seats were small and did not span the width of the table for some reason. In the table, you can pull out a drawer for utensils.

The order was made through an electronic kiosk, and the food came out pretty quickly.

Food

They gave us these crunchy snacks, which reminded me of fluffy crispy flour snacks.

The Beef Sukiyaki ($28) came with a barrage of vegetables and raw meat to cook in a sukiyaki broth. For a dip, they provide a raw egg with green onions. The dip was quite delicious, and the meat was very tender. However a few days later, I had some type of salmonella poisoning, likely from the raw egg.

The Fluffy Egg Takoyaki ($21) came with 12 pieces. This was simply battered egg with some of that takoyaki batter and mixed octopus. This came on a gas-stove, but we had asked it to be turned off since the takoyaki plate was super hot already.

The Assorted Skewers ($24) came with mushrooms, mushroom wrapped meat, tomato wrapped meat, pork belly, and chicken wings. This was room temperature and glazed with sauce. My partner mentioned they found the seasoning to be nonexistent, but I thought it was fine. It was definitely on the sweet side.

Overall Impression

Izakaya Seasun is pretty much a quintessential bar food type restaurant that is similar to a lot of places in South Korea. The prices are quite affordable even though the food may not be the best tasting. If you’re looking for a restaurant to grab quick bites on a cold day, this could be a decent spot.

Yelp & Google Jabs

I really not want to tell anybody here. Because I was here first time , I order food and food came in and I bite . OMG! It will be my fav izakaya place in nyc.

This Elitist probably hasn’t been to enough izakaya places in NYC. I do not think this place ranks high on my list.

This place was all over my TikTok feed and social media, but it sadly didn’t live up to the hype that I had anticipated going into the meal.

On my feeds, I see similar things. They take a restaurant and hype it up. But when you look at the influencers’ choice of foods, you can tell they don’t really know much about what they’re eating. Many of these influencers are paid to preach about the restaurant.
