Miss Nellie's

Miss Nellie’s was one of those restaurants near the theaters that always appeared to have an interesting menu. I had this restaurant saved for a few years, so I figured we’d check this out before watching a show. We walked in without reservations for 2 around 5:30 PM without any issues. As I sat down and looked at the menu again, I noticed some of the things I was interested in, such as smoked French Dip, had mushrooms in it. This really narrowed what I would get, so I had some skepticism.
Ambiance & Service
The interior had a Victorian inspired interior. There’s vintage aesthetics of dark wood paneling and interesting framed artwork. The interior is somewhat dark, also reminding me of some of those Midtown pubs. The noise level is quite loud here, so this is not a quiet restaurant.
The service was pretty fast once we seated. We let them know we had a showing in about 90 minutes, and the wait said there’s no issue.
Food

The Nola Baked Oysters ($23) came with scallion butter, jalapenos, and ritz crackers. These oysters were pretty good as expected. The oysters were fresh, and all the ingredients here were good.

The Double Smashburger ($26) came with iceberg, pickles, caramelized onions, American cheese, special sauce, and French fries. The immediate thought I had was a McDonald’s Big Mac. The burger was pretty decent, and if you don’t care for gourmet burgers, this would satisfy.
Overall Impression
Miss Nellie’s is an eclectic bar restaurant near the theaters. Check this out for straight forward bar foods.
Yelp & Google Jabs
Times Square in the theatre district can be a challenging place to find good drinks and a decent meal.
No, not really. There are so many restaurants here that you can easily find a comparable restaurant to this.
Mains were heavy and over salted.
This Elitist ordered the heavy sandwiches like the French dip and also parmesan fries. The ingredients presented are the epitome of salty.
